Academic Experiences and Examples of My Work

In the
Career and Community Studies program I have completed a lot of academic work. The following examples will show you the skills I have learned.

This paper describes Self Determination and describes an aspect of who I am. I like to set goals for myself and achieve them.

This paper describes my own disability. I wrote this paper for a course called Disability Unplugged. It allowed me to learn more about my disability.

The following PowerPoint was completed in my Assistive Technology course. It highlights my computer skills and shows the assistive technology that I use in my daily life.

My Work Experience

A lot of my work experience comes from doing presentations. Most of my presentations have been in school and college settings. I have developed my own
website in order to promote myself and get more speaking opportunities.

In my speeches I use PowerPoint presentations. The following PowerPoint
will show you some topics I cover in my motivational speeches. It depends on my audience which topics I will cover, but this PowerPoint gives you an overview of everything.

I have also had experience working in office settings. From 2004-2007 I worked at Opdyke Lumber in Milford, NJ. Here, I organized paperwork and customer files, and updated the database on the computer.

Currently I am interning at the Admissions Office at The College of New Jersey. I fulfill mailing for potential and incoming students, prepare folders, and input student data into the computer system. In this internship I have also given presentations about my college experience to potential students.

Volunteer Experience

Throughout my life I have enjoyed volunteering and helping others. Over the last ten years, I have volunteered my time to be the assistant coach of Delaware Valley Regional High School's wrestling team. I help the coach make line-ups, discuss strategies, and help the wrestlers at practice. This has been a big part of my life and I plan to continue in the future.

I also volunteer at the Bonner Society at The College of New Jersey. I attend weekly meetings and also make trips to a visitation home to spend time with adults with disabilities. This has been a very rewarding experience for me.
